HELP MUSICIANS UK
Postgraduate Awards – Grants towards the cost of postgraduate study at conservatoires and performing colleges – covering classical music performance, opera, jazz and musical theatre. Music colleges nominate students with exceptional talent who are also in financial need. These students are then heard by panels of expert professional musicians at auditions. Those who impress the most are offered grants for the following academic year. Postgraduate grants range between £1,000 and £5,000.
Career Development Bursaries scheme – set up to help young professional musicians access exceptional career development opportunities in the UK and internationally. Available to instrumentalists, singers, conductors, composers, songwriters or a small group, working in any musical genre. To quality you must be primarily UK-based and aged between 21-30 years of age or have completed your most recent stage of formal music education in the last five years. Grants will range from £500 to £2,000. Investing in talented artists who are performing or creating great music and are already making an impact in their field.
Emerging Artists Fund – To apply, you must be a UK-based emerging artist (individual or band) of any genre, without significant financial backing from a record label or publisher. You should be at, or approaching, a career tipping point, with a growing buzz around you, plenty of live experience and an engaged fan base. Your music should be distinctive, original and well crafted. You must be committed to building a long-term career. Grants will usually be in the range £2,000 – £5,000.

MARTIN MUSICAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND – PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA
The Fund assists exceptional musical talent in bridging the gap between study and full-time professional status. Usually over 60 awards are made each year. For gifted musicians, these awards enable them to either continue or complete an essential period of study that, due to financial constraints, may otherwise have been impossible. The culmination of the Fund’s commitment is to offer the opportunity of a recital at the Purcell Room at Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, which for these talented performers is an inspiring occasion that marks a milestone in their careers.

This competition includes two classes and is open to flute players aged 18 years and under on the day of the competition.

BARBIROLLI INTERNATIONAL OBOE FESTIVAL AND COMPETITION
Founded by the late Evelyn Barbirolli in 1993, this is an event of exceptional quality which stands as a lasting memorial to her. The festival, now based in the Erin Arts Centre, has attracted competitors from as far away as Australia, China and the United States.

Recorder
THE MOECK/SRP SOLO RECORDER PLAYING COMPETITION
The aim is to encourage young players of talent, and to help them in their professional aspirations. Competitors must show that they are able to sustain a full recital programme at a professional level. The First Prize consists of a recital at the Greenwich International Festival of Early Music in the year following the Competition, together with a Cash Prize, presented at the recital. (donated by the Society of Recorder Players and Early Music Shop). Other substantial cash prizes are awarded by the Society of Recorder Players. The Competition is international and entries are welcomed from recorder players of a suitable standard who are under thirty years of age on 1st November in the year of the Competition. Previous winners are not eligible to enter.
